A total 8 kms walk starting from Stevns lighthouse along the white and winding cliff edge is simply stunning! Passing Stevnsfort, Stevns Experience and Boesdal Kalkbrud (old limestone quarry) while turquoise seawater accompanies you all the way.
After 1.5 km walk we take a break and enjoy a delicious Danish lunch in a local restaurant or a picnic setting (picnic basket available to order), near the path in Hojerup.
The walk continues in the path along the cliff edge to Rodvig havn, a little coastal town with cozy atmosphere. Here you can enjoy an ice cream and soak in the sea breeze before we return to Copenhagen. The path is flat, not hilly, suitable for seniors and family with children. The pace is normal walking speed.
Stevns Klint was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014. It is the best place in the world to see the thin layer of clay with traces of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs and more than half of all species on Earth 66 million years ago. It is a violent story, but the extinction of the dinosaurs also made room for life to develop into the life we know today. For us mammals, the asteroid’s impact was a bit of a stroke of luck.
